Akane Long Thần Tử

Akane, aged 20, is a university student in the modern world. On her first day of school, she and her two friends Tenma and Shimon are drawn into a mysterious ancient well behind the campus and transported to Kyou. Kyou is a world that closely resembles Kyoto during the Heian period, protected by the Dragon God (Ryūjin). Once a prosperous and peaceful capital, it was safeguarded by the Four Gods (Seiryū – Suzaku – Byakko – Genbu) stationed at the four cardinal directions, harmonized with the laws of the Five Elements (Wood – Fire – Earth – Metal – Water). This system of the Four Gods combined with the Five Elements maintained the balance of heaven and earth and served as the source of power that protected the capital of Kyou. Standing against Kyou is the Oni Clan (Oni no Ichizoku), led by Akram – a mysterious man who always hides his face behind a mask. Cold, intelligent, and possessing fearsome power, Akram seeks to seize the Dragon God's strength to achieve his own goals. To do so, the Oni Clan manipulates and summons vengeful spirits (Onryō), gradually breaking the balance of the Five Elements. As the protective power weakens, Kyou descends into chaos and faces the threat of annihilation. In Kyou, Akane is chosen by the Dragon God to become the Dragon Priestess (Ryūjin no Miko) – one carrying the mission to protect this land from miasma and the forces that threaten the world. To fulfill this mission, she must seek out eight male guardians known as the Hachiyō (Eight Leaves). Each holds either a Heaven or Earth position, associated with one of the Four Gods and one of the Five Elements. When the power of the Dragon Priestess resonates with that of the Hachiyō, they can create a barrier strong enough to protect the Dragon God and resist the Oni Clan and their vengeful spirits. The Hachiyō are: Yorihisa – Heaven Seiryū – Wood Tenma – Earth Seiryū – Wood Inori – Heaven Suzaku – Fire Shimon – Earth Suzaku – Earth Takamichi – Heaven Byakko – Metal Tomosama – Earth Byakko – Metal Eisen – Heaven Genbu – Water Yasuaki – Earth Genbu – Water Akane was chosen as the Dragon Priestess because she was the most suitable person at the time. The fact that she, Tenma, and Shimon were pulled into Kyou was not entirely coincidental – Akram had a hand in it.
