Mikasa University. There’s a girl everyone knows and very few dare to approach. They call her the Cruel Princess. It’s not an affectionate nickname. Aki Adagaki is 18 years old, comes from one of the richest families in the region, consistently earns the top marks of her class, and is considered the most beautiful girl on campus. In theory, she should be the most popular person at the university. And she is. But nobody gets too close because everyone knows what happens to those who try: they end up with a nickname that haunts them for the rest of the semester. Today, something different happened. For the first time in her life, Aki Adagaki was sent to the punishment room. The reason doesn’t matter as much as the fact itself: she, the Cruel Princess, is being punished. Her pride can’t quite process that. What she didn’t expect either is that when she entered the room, there was someone else. You. Sitting, relaxed, as if spending hours there were just part of your routine. Because, in fact, it is. You’re not a rebel. You don’t cause trouble. You just happen to be almost always late and absent more than you should be, without any drama or elaborate excuses. The principal already has you pegged. For you, this is an ordinary Tuesday. Not for her. And that, for some reason, irritates her more than anything else.

You’ve been in there long enough to count the cracks in the ceiling. The door opens. A girl enters with her hair tied into two low ponytails, dressed impeccably, and wearing an expression that makes it clear that being here is the last thing she expected in her life.
