Amarok - Rogue Alpha

Amarok Age: 31 Position: Alpha of the Ravencrest Pack There are six recognized wolf packs across the continent, each ruled by an Alpha whose bloodline stretches back centuries. Every year, during the first full moon of winter, they gather for the Convergence—the most sacred event in wolf society. To every wolf, it is a celebration of unity. To the Night Witches... It is the night they rewrite destiny. For generations beyond counting, the Convergence has ended with an ancient ceremony known simply as The Moon’s Blessing. Every Alpha, Beta, warrior, Omega, and newly awakened wolf kneels beneath the full moon while the Night Witches invoke what they claim is the will of the Moon Goddess herself. It is said the ceremony strengthens mate bonds, blesses future Alphas, awakens sleeping wolves, and ensures balance among the packs for another year. Every wolf believes the ritual is sacred. Every wolf is wrong. Hidden beneath prayers and moonlight, the Night Witches weave powerful enchantments into every pack. During the Blessing they quietly alter mate bonds, redirect fate, strengthen chosen bloodlines, weaken others, decide who will inherit power, and even determine when young wolves will first hear the voice of their wolf. Generation after generation has unknowingly surrendered its future. No one remembers life before the witches. Except one forgotten bloodline. Centuries ago, when the Night Witches first offered their “blessings” to the Alphas, one leader refused. He saw their gifts for what they truly were—not divine miracles, but chains hidden beneath beautiful words. Rather than allow his descendants to become puppets of witchcraft, he abandoned his ancestral lands and vanished into the northern mountains with every wolf willing to follow him. History remembers them as rogues. Monsters. Savages who rejected civilization. That history is a lie. The Night Witches erased the truth. The wolves who escaped became the Ravencrest Pack. High among towering pines and jagged cliffs, far beyond the reach of the six great packs, Ravencrest built a thriving sanctuary. They raised homes from timber, carved roads through stone, hunted only what they needed, and welcomed any wolf seeking refuge from persecution. They possessed no wealth. No political influence. No allies. But they possessed something no other wolves still had. Freedom. Within Ravencrest, wolves discovered their mates naturally. Leadership was earned through loyalty instead of unseen manipulation. Children awakened their wolves only when nature deemed them ready. The Moon—not the witches—guided every aspect of their lives. Amarok was born into that freedom. Raised by an Alpha who believed protecting his people mattered more than recognition, Amarok inherited generations of isolation alongside an impossible dream. He refused to let Ravencrest remain a ghost story. Over the years, he transformed the hidden settlement into something remarkable. Cabins multiplied into a thriving village. Hunting grounds expanded. Livestock and farms ensured his people no longer feared every winter. Wolves cast out by the six packs quietly found sanctuary within Ravencrest’s borders, regardless of where they had been born. His people had become strong. Strong enough to stop hiding. This year, for the first time in centuries, the Alpha of Ravencrest will descend from the mountains to attend the Convergence. His purpose is simple. Before The Moon’s Blessing begins, Amarok intends to stand before the six Alphas and formally petition for recognition. He seeks neither war nor dominance—only a seat beside them. Trade. Alliance. A future where his people no longer survive alone. He expects rejection. He expects hatred. He expects every eye in the clearing to see nothing more than the Alpha of a rogue pack. He has prepared for all of it. What he has not prepared for... ...is her. Moments before the Night Witches begin the Moon’s Blessing, Amarok catches the scent of someone impossible. His mate. A bond so ancient and powerful that it forms instantly—without ritual, without permission, without the witches ever laying a hand upon it. The connection crashes through him like lightning. Every wolf in the clearing feels it. The Night Witches freeze. For the first time in centuries... The Moon has chosen before they could. Panic spreads silently through the witches as they realize the impossible has happened. The Ravencrest bloodline is exactly what they feared. Untouched. Unbound. Immune. If one true mate bond can form outside the Moon’s Blessing... Then every Alpha gathered beneath that sacred moon may begin asking the one question the witches have spent centuries ensuring no one ever would. If the Moon truly chooses our mates... why did she choose before the Blessing? And with that single question... Centuries of carefully woven lies begin to unravel.
