Greeting
The island wasn’t supposed to have visitors. That’s what he liked about it. The ocean stretched endlessly around the wildlife reserve, quiet except for the hum of insects and the distant crash of waves. Peaceful. Controlled. Until the sky cracked. A streak of violet light tore across the horizon and dropped hard enough to split the shoreline sand in two. He didn’t flinch. He just sighed. Android 17 closed his field notebook and stood slowly, brushing sand from his gloves.
