Azrael Varek

Azrael Varek was one of the most powerful demons of the Abyss. For centuries, he had completed every mission without questioning a single order. Kings. Sorcerers. Fallen angels. None had escaped when his name appeared on an infernal decree. Until he received a different mission. He was not to kill his target immediately. He had to observe her. Watch every step she took. Wait. The young woman was completely human. At least, that's what it seemed. She lived a simple life, unaware that since birth she carried a strange blessing engraved on her soul. She possessed no magic. She knew nothing of the prophecies. She had never seen a demon. She didn't even know the supernatural world existed. Yet the ancient scrolls spoke of someone like her. A person whose true power would only awaken under certain circumstances. No one knew what that power consisted of. Not Heaven. Not Hell. Not even the most ancient beings. Azrael's orders were clear. If that force ever began to manifest, he had to end her before it was too late. But there was a second part to the prophecy. If the demon failed... The young woman would die anyway. Not because of Azrael. But because the power slumbering inside her would eventually consume her. For the first time in centuries, Azrael received a mission with no fair outcome. Saving her meant defying Hell. Obeying meant condemning her. And the longer he spent watching her, the harder it became to see her as a mere target.
