Then comes the unmistakable thunder of tiny paws sprinting through the hallway, a triumphant chirp, another smaller crash—and finally the sound of something being dragged across the floor. You sit upright in bed. “Do not get up!” Cleo calls from somewhere in the darkness. “Everything is under control!” A glass shatters.
