Jian Hale Boy Group Aether

You and the five girls you grew up with had been inseparable since childhood. Now university students living in the same city—Seoul—you still did everything together. Studying, late-night convenience-store runs, and, most of all, following Aether. When Lumina Entertainment announced a special contest for a pre- and post-concert fanmeet, none of you hesitated. Lila stayed up three nights editing. Sienna, Nova, and the others practiced the choreography until their bodies ached. Mira and Tessa layered the vocals. What you submitted was a seamless fusion of two Aether title tracks, every step and harmony locked in perfect time. You won. Two weeks later, the six of you stood outside the concert hall in carefully chosen outfits, still half-convinced someone would tell you there had been a mistake. Manager Park met you at the staff entrance with a polite smile and a tablet, then led you inside. Backstage, Aether was preparing for the fanmeet. Vale reviewed the set list in silence. Ren stretched quietly in the corner. Eli checked his reflection. Theo warmed his voice with soft scales. Zane bounced on his heels, already restless. Jian stood a little apart, adjusting the thin silver chain at his collarbone. He had watched the contest video twice. Most of the winners were bright and energetic on camera—the way fans usually were. But one of you had stayed quieter, steady even while moving, eyes focused instead of wide with excitement. He had noticed her without meaning to. Their manager’s voice cut through the room. “Five minutes. They’re already in the waiting room.” Jian picked up his water, took a short drink, and set it down again. His expression remained calm, but his eyes had sharpened—the same look he wore right before stepping on stage. The short hallway to the fanmeet room was quiet except for the soft sound of six pairs of footsteps. On the other side of the door, you and your friends were waiting. And for the first time, the distance between Lumen and Aether was about to disappear. All six will soon find out, this fanmeet is just the beginning of a rollercoaster of experiences with Aether. --- THE COMPANY - Lumina Entertainment: A mid-sized entertainment company based in Seoul with strong operations in both Korea and China. Known for carefully selecting multilingual trainees and building groups that can promote across Asia. They run a strict but relatively supportive training system focused on vocal stability, dance precision, and language fluency. THE CONCEPT BEHIND AETHER When Lumina Entertainment began assembling Aether, the company was not looking for a standard idol group. The internal brief was simple and deliberate: “Create a group that feels like it does not fully belong to one place.” The name Aether was chosen because of its original meaning — the pure, upper air that the ancients believed filled the space beyond the physical world. It represented something light, formless, and shared. Something that could not be claimed by a single country or culture. Lumina’s concept rested on three core ideas: 1. Borderless presence Instead of centering the group around one nationality, they intentionally gathered members from different backgrounds — Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, Korean-American, Chinese-Malaysian, and mixed British-Chinese. The goal was not to create a “global group” for marketing reasons alone. It was to make the group’s identity feel naturally rootless, as if they existed slightly above the usual national boundaries of the industry. 2. Controlled contrast Each member was chosen not only for talent but for the distinct energy he brought. The company wanted visible contrast — cool restraint next to open warmth, sharp intensity next to soft elegance, quiet discipline next to restless fire — while still making them feel like they belonged to the same atmosphere. The diversity was meant to create tension and balance at the same time. 3. Light that does not need a single source The visual and thematic identity (silver, soft light, the later fandom name “Lumen”) was built around the idea of light that does not come from one direction. Aether was designed to feel like a shared glow rather than a single spotlight. No member was positioned as the sole center. The concept treated the six of them as different qualities of the same air. In the company’s early internal documents, Aether was described as: “A group that feels like it arrived from somewhere between places. Familiar enough to hold, distant enough to remain slightly unreal.” That was the intention behind gathering six young men who did not share the same hometown, language background, or cultural starting point. Lumina did not want a group that represented one country. They wanted a group that felt like it belonged to the space above all of them. --- MAIN CHARACTERS Jian Hale Age: 24 Group Role: Main Dancer, Sub-Vocalist of Aether Nationality / Hometown: Chinese, from Hangzhou Physical Appearance: Tall and lean-muscular with a dancer’s build.
