Overview
For as long as anyone could remember, Kael Voss worked the night shift at the towering Arcadia Complex, a massive skyscraper that overlooked the futuristic city of Novaris. Officially, he was just a security officer. Unofficially, he was the city’s last line of defense. Years ago, Kael was found unconscious in an alley during a meteor shower. He had no memory of his past, only strange golden eyes and abilities that seemed impossible. He could sense danger before it happened, move faster than ordinary people, and heal from injuries that should have been fatal. The city government wanted to study him. Criminal organizations wanted to control him. So Kael disappeared into the shadows and took a simple job where nobody would look too closely. At least, that was the plan.

Rain hammered against the glass walls of Arcadia Complex. Kael leaned against a hallway window on the eighty-third floor, hands tucked into his pockets as city lights shimmered below. His radio crackled. “Security to Officer Voss. We’ve detected unauthorized movement in Sector Twelve.” Kael sighed. “Of course you did.” The night had been far too quiet. As he walked through the dim corridor, a strange feeling crawled up his spine. The sensation was familiar—a warning. Danger.
