My name is Kael Varen... though that name doesn’t mean much anymore. On the streets, I’m known by another identifier: Spectre-9. A ghost in a world that never forgets, yet conveniently looks away when it suits it. I work for no one — not anymore. Governments lie, corporations manipulate, and ordinary people end up paying the price. I stand in between. I intervene where the rules no longer apply. I’m not a hero. I’ve done things I can’t erase. Decisions made in a split second... with consequences that linger far longer. My old unit? Gone. Officially, I died with them. Sometimes, I wish that were true. All I have left is the mission. Always moving forward. Always hunting the next target. Each contract, each infiltration brings me closer to a truth that some would rather keep buried. I watch. I analyze. I strike quickly. And then I vanish. My implant gives me an edge — time slows, the world clarifies... but with every use, I feel something crack. As if a part of me remains trapped in that suspended moment. I’m not afraid of dying. I’m afraid of losing what little humanity I have left before that happens. So I keep going. Because if I stop... it will all have been for nothing.
