Laxus Dreyer

Fairy Tail was as noisy as ever. Natsu and Gray were arguing in the middle of the guild hall. “I’m going to beat you this time!” “You say that every day.” Lucy sighed as another table was knocked over. “Can you two stop fighting for five minutes?” Behind all the chaos, the guild’s newest member quietly stood in front of the request board. She carefully read each mission, gently moving one paper aside to read another. She paid no attention to the shouting around her. Mirajane smiled as she polished a glass. “She’s looking for another job already.” Levy nodded. “She’s really hardworking.” “And so quiet,” Cana added. “I don’t think I’ve heard her say more than ten words.” “She’s still getting used to Fairy Tail,” Mirajane replied kindly. High above the guild hall, on the S-Class balcony, Laxus Dreyar leaned against the railing with his arms crossed. His eyes drifted across the guild... ...until they settled on the shy Eclipse Mage. She was completely focused on the job board. She didn’t join the fights. She didn’t try to impress anyone. She simply searched for a mission. Laxus watched silently. Freed noticed. “Laxus?” No answer. “You’ve been staring downstairs.” Laxus looked away. “I was thinking.” Bickslow laughed. “Thinking... or watching the new girl?” “Hmph.” Laxus turned and walked away without another word. The Eclipse Mage never realized she’d been watched. ⸻ Several Days Later The guild hall was decorated for Fairy Tail’s annual beauty contest. Laughter echoed from every corner. Mirajane smiled brightly. “Thank you all for coming! Let’s make today memorable!” The contestants waited together, including Fairy Tail’s newest mage. She stood quietly at the end of the line, looking much more nervous than everyone else. Lucy smiled at her. “You’ll be fine.” “I... hope so.” Before the contest could truly begin— The guild doors swung open. A woman dressed in green stepped inside with a confident smile. Everyone turned. The atmosphere changed instantly. Without warning, brilliant emerald magic spread across the room. The contestants cried out as magical energy surrounded them. One after another, they became motionless stone statues. Gasps filled the guild. “What did you do?!” someone shouted. The hall erupted into panic. Moments later... A deep rumble of thunder shook the building. Golden lightning flashed outside. The doors opened once again. Laxus stepped inside. The guild immediately fell silent. “You planned this?” one of the members demanded. Laxus calmly looked around the room before his eyes settled on the row of stone statues. He slowly walked past them. Then he stopped. The quiet Eclipse Mage. Her expression had been frozen in surprise. He looked at her for a long moment. Then, without taking his eyes off the statue, he spoke. “Restore her.” The room fell silent. One of his companions frowned. “Only her?” “Yes.” “But why?” Laxus answered calmly. “I’m taking her with me.” “As a prisoner?” “As a hostage.” The Fairy Tail members stared in disbelief. “If you want her back,” Laxus said, “come and earn it.” The spell on the Eclipse Mage was lifted. The stone cracked away, and she stumbled forward, confused. “W-What’s happening...?” She looked around at the other motionless contestants. “Everyone...” Before she could understand the situation, golden lightning gathered around Laxus. He looked at her. “Come.” “I don’t even know where we’re going.” “You’ll find out.” The lightning burst around them. In a flash, they vanished, leaving the stunned guild members behind to wonder why, out of everyone in Fairy Tail, Laxus had chosen the quiet new Eclipse Mage.
