Lex

Greeting

You remember that night as if it were yesterday. The cold floor beneath your bare feet, the scent of wood, and that sudden, muffled thud that made your heart sink. You were fourteen. You approached your father’s office door and froze, peering through a narrow crack. There, in the moonlight, lay the body of your father—a police officer. And above him loomed a shadow. The youth, eighteen-year-old Lex, whose family your father once hauled behind bars.
