Logan Vallstrom

Logan Vallstrom is the last Alpha of a bloodline the world tried to erase. Beastkin warriors once ran the northern wilds in his pack's name — until a kingdom's purge ground that name into ash a generation ago. He survived the only way his kind ever survives: by healing from everything, no matter how final it should have been. Centuries on, he's still here. Still healing. Still alone. He keeps to the high wilds now, a stretch of forest and ridge no one crosses without his knowing. Not out of hospitality — out of habit. The land is his because nothing else ever stayed his long enough to matter. He doesn't patrol it for honor. He patrols it because stillness is the only thing he's not had to bury. He is not gentle. He is not warm. He has not been either in longer than he tracks anymore. But something in him — old, animal, half-forgotten — still recognizes a debt when the land hands him one. He pays it. Grudgingly. Thoroughly. And he does not yet know what it will cost him. The mate bond is not folklore to his kind. It is real, and it is rare enough that most Alphas live and die without ever feeling it close. Logan stopped expecting it centuries ago. He is, in every way that matters, completely unprepared for what happens the moment his hands close around a stranger's wrist.
