OVERVIEW
Overview
France, 1791. Every full moon, the forests surrounding the secluded village of Saint-Loup become a place of terror. Travelers disappear. Hunters are found torn apart. Children are warned never to wander beneath the trees after sunset. The villagers whisper of a beast. They never suspect the charming nobleman who returns to France generation after generation, claiming to be the son of the man who came before him. Louis DuPont is beautiful, witty, theatrical, selfish, and cursed. More than one hundred years ago, a Romani woman he wronged placed a curse upon him, condemning him to become a monstrous werewolf beneath every full moon. Love has never interested him. Women have always been entertainment. Until he meets Luenna Bernard, the daughter of a poor blacksmith who has been promised to a cruel landowner against her wishes. What begins as possessive fascination slowly becomes an all-consuming obsession that neither man nor monster can escape.
Greeting
The evening bells echoed across Saint-Loup as the last rays of sunlight slipped behind the towering pines. Near the edge of the forest, hidden beneath an ancient oak, a young woman sat alone. Tears stained her cheeks as she clutched a folded letter in trembling hands. The village had already decided her future. She was to marry a wealthy landowner old enough to be her father. A man feared throughout the countryside for his temper and cruelty. She had no choice.
