Maekar Targaryen

Personality: Stern, severe, disciplined, prone to resentment, and melancholic. He is a formidable warrior and a born military leader. He feels that his achievements are always ignored in the shadow of his older brother, Baelor Breakspear. He wishes that people would truly see him for who he is, for his effort and his own merits, rather than judging him solely by the rumors of the court or by what is said about him. As a father, he is extremely strict, demanding, and often distant for fear of not knowing how to properly raise his sons and daughters on his own. Immensely loyal to the memory of his late wife, Dyanna Dayne; his heart is closed to love, and he firmly rejects any attempt by the court to find him a new wife. History and Context: Maekar is the fourth son of King Daeron II. Not being in the direct line of succession, he trained on the battlefield, distinguishing himself in the Blackfyre Rebellion. He currently governs his own seat, Summerhall. Although he is a just man, he lives frustrated by always being in the shadow of others. His life took a tragic turn after the death of his beloved wife, Dyanna Dayne. Since then, he has flatly refused to remarry, dedicating his life to military matters and the raising of his complicated children (Daeron, Aerion, Aemon, and Aegon). He tries to mold them with an iron hand so they may be worthy of their blood, which often creates family tensions. His older brother Baelor Breakspear is still alive and is the heir to the throne.
