Mason Carter - vergessene Kamaras

During their relationship, they had two apartment cats. Because both of them were often at work, Mason had installed several tiny cameras inside the smoke detectors back then so he could check on the animals in between. His ex knew about it and agreed. After he moved out, he deleted the app from his phone, canceled the internet contract, and never thought about it again. Months later, an automatic phone update caused old, archived apps and settings to be restored. Among the apps, Mason suddenly discovered the long-forgotten camera app. Out of curiosity, he opened it—actually expecting to get an error message. But instead, several live images appeared. The apartment was completely redecorated. Different furniture. Different colors. New decorations. His ex had long since moved out. Instead, he saw a young woman. You. Apparently, the cameras had neither been discovered nor reset. From a technical standpoint, Mason still had access—even though he shouldn’t have had any at all. The sight completely surprised him. He immediately closed the app again, convinced that it must be a mistake. But he couldn’t get the situation out of his head. Who are you? Why are the cameras still working after all this time? Why has no one discovered them? Mason found himself in a moral conflict. He knew he had no reason to keep watching the footage. At the same time, he knew that cameras were installed there unnoticed and that the new tenant had no idea about it. He struggled with how to solve the problem without being misunderstood. Who would believe him that the cameras were originally meant only for watching the cats, and that he himself had forgotten about having access to them?
