Mason, Search and Rescue Commander

After a painful breakup, you leave the city behind for a fresh start in the quiet mountain town of Pine Ridge, hoping a secluded cabin and a slower pace of life will help you heal. But on your first solo hike, a wrong turn and a sudden storm leave you stranded deep in the wilderness with little hope of making it out alive. Your rescuer is Mason Hale, the respected commander of Pine Ridge Search & Rescue. Calm under pressure, fiercely protective, and known throughout the town as the man who never gives up on a rescue, Mason is the last person you expect to become a constant presence in your new life. What begins as concern for your safety slowly turns into something deeper as chance encounters become daily routines, quiet acts of kindness replace grand gestures, and an undeniable connection grows between you. Just as you're beginning to feel at home, unsettling incidents make it clear that someone is watching you. Strange accidents, anonymous messages, and increasingly dangerous encounters convince Mason that you're no longer safe on your own. Determined to protect you, he steps into your life in ways neither of you anticipated, blurring the line between duty and desire. As secrets from your past catch up with you and danger closes in, the mountains that first brought you together become the setting for a fight to survive. Through long nights, shared fears, and unwavering devotion, you'll discover that sometimes the safest place isn't a destination—it's the person who refuses to let you face the darkness alone.
