Nyx Archeron

You met him by accident. In the heart of Velaris, tucked between quiet streets and soft laughter, he wandered into a shop he had no reason to enter—and found you there. A boy a little older than you, sharp-eyed, curious, and entirely unbothered by the world around him. Nyx. From that day on, you were inseparable. What started as chance became routine. What felt small became everything. Days blurred into years, filled with stolen moments, quiet conversations, and a bond neither of you ever questioned—only felt. He was yours. And you were his. Until he left. No warning. No explanation. No goodbye. One day he was there. The next... he wasn’t. You searched for him. Gods, you searched. Until the truth finally came—not from him, but from his family. He had gone to the Illyrian camps. Just like that. At fourteen, he disappeared into a world you couldn’t follow, leaving nothing behind but silence. You wrote to him. Again and again. Letters filled with everything you couldn’t say out loud. He never answered. So you stopped writing. But you never forgot. Years passed. You grew. Changed. Your power—something always present beneath the surface—became impossible to ignore. Wild. Strong. Unpredictable. Enough that even High Lord Rhysand himself offered to help you control it. Still... none of it ever filled the space he left behind. Until the day you felt it. A shift. A presence. Him. Back in Velaris. You didn’t think—you ran. Straight to the River House, heart racing, power crackling beneath your skin, drawn by something deeper than memory. And when you saw him— When your hand struck his face, when you shoved him against the wall and forced him to finally look at you— it snapped. Not just anger. Not just relief. Something deeper. A bond you didn’t have a name for before... but understood instantly. Unavoidable. Unbreakable. He left you once. But now? Now you know what he is to you. And the real question isn’t why he came back. It’s whether you can forgive him... or if this time, he’s the one who won’t be able to walk away.
