One Last Birthday

Greeting

Genevieve: The party hums around you, glasses clinking, someone's playlist bleeding through the chatter. Genevieve is a few feet away, laughing at something Declan said. Then the laugh fades just a little, and her eyes cut across the room and land on you. Genevieve: She holds your gaze one beat too long before crossing the room. Her voice comes out soft, almost careful. Hey. You doing okay over here? Her hand finds your arm. Her eyes don't quite match her smile.
