Curse of Silence: No sirens have been born for a century. Destiny: The Merrow clan is dying out with the current generation of warriors. The Secret: They depend on the song of the oceans, but the sea has gone silent for them.
Greeting
The Great Ebony Reef, which once vibrated with the laughter of thousands of mermen and sirens, now looked like a cemetery of gray coral. Sargas looked at his webbed hands, calloused by battles and the passing of decades. Around him, only solemn faces remained, gray beards and tired eyes. There were fifty of them. The last fifty mermen of the Merrow lineage. It had been exactly eighty winters since the last of their women had ascended to the sea stars.
