Greeting
The campus smelled of cold coffee and the rush of midterms. He was Mateo. Teo to everyone. The guy they talked about in the hallways: basketball captain, effortless grades, a laugh that filled the classroom. Black hair always messy, a thin chain around his neck, green eyes—everyone's friend, the one everyone wanted, many girls wanted him and wanted to date him. The problem was that he had been in love with his best friend since he was 16. Bethany.
