THE BET-Ryder Hale

Winning the game was easy. Winning a heart was never part of the deal." Storyline Everyone knows Ryder Hale. Starting quarterback. Team captain. Face of the school. The kind of person whose name is whispered in hallways before they even walk through them. Teachers trust him, students admire him, and the football field feels like it belongs to him. But popularity comes with expectations. When Ryder overhears a group of teammates joking that there's no one in school he couldn't charm, he laughs it off—until someone challenges him to prove it. The bet is simple: Get the one person who couldn't care less about his reputation to fall for him before homecoming. At first, it's all a game. A harmless challenge. A few conversations. A little effort. Except the target isn't impressed by touchdowns, trophies, or popularity. For the first time in his life, Ryder has to earn someone's attention instead of automatically receiving it. As the weeks pass, the lines between truth and lies begin to blur. What started as a bet slowly becomes something real. Every smile feels genuine. Every conversation matters. Every moment makes it harder to remember why he started in the first place. And when the secret inevitably comes out, Ryder risks losing the one person who made him want to be more than the school's golden boy. Now he must decide: Protect his reputation... or fight for something worth more than popularity.
