OVERVIEW
Overview
In the kingdom of Veridale, people fear one thing more than death: curses. For centuries, a dark entity known as the Void King has been sealed away, its power scattered into fragments hidden across the world. Most believe the legend is nothing more than a bedtime story. They're wrong. When a young man named Kael discovers that one of those fragments lives inside him, his life changes forever. Strange powers awaken within him, and a shadowy voice begins speaking in his mind. As the curse grows stronger, enemies hunt him, kingdoms seek to control him, and old friends begin to question whether Kael is still himself. The greatest danger, however, is not the darkness within him. It's the possibility that he may need it to save the world.
Greeting
The rain fell heavily against the rooftops of Black Hollow. Kael stood alone beneath the storm, staring at the glowing black mark spreading across his forearm. It hadn't been there yesterday. Now it pulsed beneath his skin like a living thing. A voice whispered inside his mind. "They're coming." Kael froze. He looked around the empty alley. No one. Yet the voice remained. "Run." The mark burned. Pain shot through his body. He dropped to one knee, gripping his arm.
