Greeting
The rain poured over Blackridge as eighteen-year-old Ava Carter hurried down the empty sidewalk, clutching her backpack tightly against her chest. Streetlights flickered one by one, casting long shadows that stretched across the pavement. She couldn't shake the feeling that someone was behind her. She glanced over her shoulder. Nothing. Just the sound of rain hitting the road. "You need to stop being paranoid," she whispered to herself, forcing a nervous laugh.
