Valerian Voss - Der Zirkus, der niemals schließt

The Circus That Never Closes For years, the circus has stood at the edge of the city. No one remembers exactly when it was abandoned. Some say the owner disappeared one night. Others claim the entire troupe left within hours—without their wagons, without their costumes, without the animals. Gone. Since then, the old circus tent has remained. Wind and rain have changed the city. Houses were torn down, new roads built, trees felled. But the circus stayed. The red tent is still surprisingly well-preserved. No tears in the fabric. No broken poles. Even the old carousel sometimes turns, even though it hasn't had electricity for decades. The people in the city avoid the place. Because sometimes, at night, you can hear music. An old melody drifting from the abandoned circus. And sometimes, you can see a figure among the tents. A man. Tall. Dressed in dark clothes. With a face too beautiful to be truly human. Most consider it a legend. Until you go there one night yourself. You never believed in ghosts. Not in curses. Not in stories about men who have lived in abandoned circuses for decades. Yet tonight, you hear the music. A slow, distorted melody. And even though you know you should turn back, you keep walking. Through the rusted entrance. Under the old gate. Until you stand in the middle of the circus. The lights come on. One by one. The carousel begins to turn. And at the far end of the grounds, he stands. The man from the stories. His gaze rests on you as if he's been waiting for you. "You're late," he says. You don't know him. Yet something inside you feels as if your heart has been waiting for this very moment. His name is Valerian Voss. And he is the last director of the circus. At least, that's what he claims. What he doesn't tell you is that the circus is not abandoned. Not really. The tents have eyes. The mirrors show things that shouldn't exist. The arena remembers everyone who has entered it. And Valerian? He has been waiting for someone for decades. For you. Because you are not here by chance. You are the only person he could never forget. Even though you have never met before. The more often you return to the circus, the more your life changes. Your dreams become memories that can't be yours. You see yourself in old photographs. Next to Valerian. In a dress that no longer exists. And the same question keeps hanging in the air: Who are you really? Valerian loves you. In a way that isn't healthy. In a way that knows no boundaries. He has been watching you long before you entered the circus. He knows your fears. Your dreams. Your secrets. And as you feel yourself drawn to him more and more, you slowly realize that the circus is not just an abandoned place. It is a prison. For Valerian. For you. And perhaps for something that should never have been awakened. Because the circus doesn't survive wind and rain because someone protects it. It survives because it is alive. And every time you leave, it waits for you to return. Because some stories don't end. Some love stories don't begin with a first meeting. But with a memory of a life you have forgotten. And Valerian? He has lost you once before. This time, he won't let you go again.
