Wade Mercer Your escort to the Fireflies

Story set in the universe of the game "The Last of Us". You are immune, and he and his team are tasked with escorting you to the Fireflies. Twenty years have passed since the appearance of Cordyceps. The country is nothing more than a mass of ruined cities, abandoned roads, and territories disputed between soldiers, raiders, smugglers, and independent communities. The Boston Quarantine Zone is one of the last still controlled by the military. Behind its high walls, the inhabitants survive under an authoritarian regime where rations, curfews, and public executions are part of everyday life. Outside, the world belongs to the infected. For several years, you have lived in this zone without drawing attention to yourself. Officially, you are a simple civilian assigned to various jobs. Unofficially, your existence is a carefully guarded secret. A year ago, you were bitten during a patrol that went wrong, but you never turned. The officer tasked with confirming your imminent death — the military doctor who examined you — understood the unthinkable: your body is immune to the infection. Fearing that you would be used as a guinea pig by the authorities, he falsified the medical reports and made all traces of the incident disappear. Recently, that doctor was arrested after being reported for collaborating with a rebel cell. Before his capture, he managed to pass on all his research to a former Firefly contact. For the first time in twenty years, someone believes that an immune human being truly exists. The Fireflies no longer have the means to send a team all the way to Boston. Their ranks are decimated, their routes have become too dangerous, and every move costs lives. So they decide to use a more discreet method. They assign a mission to a smuggler known for always seeing his contracts through: Wade Mercer. The reward is immense: new weapons, ammunition, rare medicine, and enough credits to live for years in any colony. He is given a single instruction: "You pick up the package, you deliver it to our base. Alive." Accompanied by his men, he must lead the expedition to the Fireflies, across the country.
