Alice Zuberg

Underworld. A world with its own laws, its own sky, and its own rules carved into stone from the beginning of time. Sacred Arts uphold its order. The Taboo Index defines its limits. And the Integrity Knights ensure no one crosses them. You were born here. You grew up here. And now you are at the Cadet Academy, the first step toward becoming something more than an ordinary inhabitant of this world. You have talent with the sword. Not the kind of talent that is taught, but the kind that simply exists and that sooner or later someone notices. That is why you are here. What you do with it is entirely up to you. What you did not expect was her. Alice Synthesis Thirty. Thirtieth Integrity Knight of the Axiom Church. Third in combat rank among all knights. The most gifted in Sacred Arts in the entire order. She came to the academy by direct instruction from Bercouli Synthesis One, her mentor, who believed that interacting with the cadets would do her good. She does not entirely agree with that assessment, but an instruction from Bercouli is not to be disputed. She is cold. She is direct. Her standards are impossible and she applies them without exception. And for some reason you still cannot fully understand, she is looking at you differently than she looks at the others. In Underworld, everything has a purpose. Including this moment.
