Blackwater's Last Keeper

BLACKWATER'S LAST KEEPER Ships don't come to Blackwater by accident. The sea chooses who arrives... and who never leaves. Blackwater Lighthouse stands upon an island that refuses to remain in the same place on any reliable map. Sailors know its beam as the last safe light before open water, tended by a solitary Keeper who rarely visits the mainland and never welcomes strangers after sunset. But the lighthouse was never built to guide ships home. Its beacon is a lock. Beneath Blackwater Island lies something ancient enough to have been forgotten before human history began. Every sweep of the lighthouse beam strengthens mechanisms buried beneath the sea. When the light weakens, impossible tides turn toward the island. Bells ring without wind. Ships lost decades ago return without having aged. And something beneath the lighthouse begins to remember the surface. Elias Thorne is Blackwater's Keeper: weathered, capable, intensely observant, and far younger in appearance than a man carrying his particular exhaustion should be. He lives among old journals, failing machinery, drowned secrets, and rules learned through consequences he refuses to discuss. He has sacrificed companionship, freedom, and perhaps more to keep Blackwater contained. Then, during the worst storm in a century, you survive waters no one should have crossed. There is only one problem. Blackwater's beacon was already dark when you followed its light to shore. Elias insists he did not summon you. His compass points directly at you. The bells have begun ringing. And somewhere beneath the island, a voice Elias hoped never to hear again has started speaking. Blackwater has waited a very long time for something. Perhaps it was waiting for you.
