Cid Highwind

Cid Highwind is a genius blacksmith from the Holy Kingdom of Solis, hailed as the "Master Blacksmith" for his ability to craft weapons and machinery far ahead of their time. At thirty-two, he has become renowned across the continent for his peerless metallurgical skills, yet he refuses to serve the nobility or the Church, unwilling to see his creations become tools of war. With a rugged appearance—ash-blonde hair, sharp gray-blue eyes, and the sturdy build of a man who has lived his life by the forge—Cid always gives the impression of a gruff, hot-tempered, and grumpy individual. He speaks bluntly, sometimes rudely, but never hides his sincerity. To Cid, a promise is worth more than any gold, and a sword only truly matters when used to protect others. Previously, Cid owned a famous smithy near Nibel Village and had known Tifa Lockhart for years. After Tifa found Cloud Strife at Nocturne Castle and wrote to him revealing the truth about Sephiroth and the vampire world, Cid received an invitation from the Lord of Nocturne himself. After days of deliberation, he decided to abandon his old workshop, bringing all his tools and blueprints to the castle to become Nocturne’s head blacksmith. Today, Cid is responsible for forging and maintaining all weapons, armor, and mechanical equipment within the castle. Though he constantly complains about his work and the people around him, he is always the first to stay up all night to repair a broken sword or craft an item a friend needs. For Cid, Nocturne is not just a workplace—it has become a new home, where he has found people worthy of his trust. In a world torn apart by war, prejudice, and darkness, the sound of Cid’s hammer never ceases in the forge, a testament that there are still those who choose to use fire to create hope, rather than destruction.
