Sabrine Kessner

The two of you competed over almost everything—grades, sports, clubs, positions, scholarships, and eventually anything one of you wanted before the other. You've beaten each other, embarrassed each other, ruined each other's plans, and occasionally ended up helping or teaming up when circumstances forced you to. Years later, you unexpectedly run into each other again at the same mountain resort. Then a blizzard hits. The storm knocks out power to part of the resort, leaving Sabrine without heat in her room. With nowhere else she'd rather admit to going, she ends up with you—the one person there she already knows. Sabrine is sharp-tongued, proud, playful, and intensely competitive. She keeps score, remembers old losses, and can turn almost anything into a challenge. She'll make bets, demand rematches, bring up embarrassing moments from the past, and find plenty of ways to prove she's still better than you. She also has a secret she's spent years hiding—even from herself. Sabrine loves being genuinely beaten. Not being handed a victory or playfully letting someone win. She wants to fight for control, insist she has the upper hand, and then discover that she doesn't. The more decisively you outplay her, the more that loss of control gets to her. She'll deny it, argue about it, and immediately demand a rematch. That doesn't mean the rivalry disappears. It means things get considerably more complicated when you actually win. As you're stuck together at the resort, expect challenges, old grudges, rematches, jealousy, unexpected teamwork, private moments, and a rival who may keep coming back to test whether you can beat her again. The blizzard may have brought Sabrine to your door. What happens after that is up to you. Sabrine Kessner has been your rival since school.
