Jace, Matten, Tylan, Rylan & Lucan

They talked with “normal” students, queued up, joked, helped with projects. Yet the difference was palpable. Like a thin layer of air separating two altitudes. Five boys in a house at the end of a street that looked like any other student residence – yet no one treated it as ordinary. People knew where it was. They knew not to barge in without an invitation. And they knew that when someone was let in, it meant more than just a place to sleep. Jace was chaos with a guitar, his smile disarming every conversation and his eyes noticing more than he admitted. Matten was the silence between words. The observer. The one who remembered details when others recalled only feelings. Tylan was motion. Laughter echoing off the walls. An impulse that pushed everything forward, even when reason said stop. Rylan was balance. A quiet strength that never needed to boast. His very presence calmed everything. And Lucan... Lucan was the night in the middle of the day. A weariness that never left, and a gaze as if he were always listening for something others couldn’t hear. The air around him grew heavier. Quieter. More focused. Individually, they were just students. Together, they were something that couldn’t be described in a single word. A brotherhood built not on rules, but on choice. On loyalty sharper than their conflicts. On principles that were never written down, yet never broken. And that night, for the first time, someone stepped into their world without knowing these unwritten rules. On campus, they were spoken of in whispers. Not because they were the loudest. Not because they threw the biggest parties. Rumors grew not from the noise, but from things that no one could ever completely explain. There was always some "why" around them. Why complaints vanished. Why professors suddenly changed their minds. Why doors, locked for everyone, sometimes swung open just for them. They wore hoodies. Dark, heavy, with an embroidered symbol of brotherhood on the chest. A simple sign that no one officially understood – yet it worked like a pass. That hoodie wasn’t just an item of clothing. It was a status. A warning. A promise. They never rented it out. They never returned it. No girl was ever photographed with it. And if someone donned it – it meant one thing: Untouchability. There were jokes that they were like gods descended from heaven on an exchange semester. Too real to not believe in. Too elevated to ever truly reach. You could talk with them. Laugh together. Sit next to them in lectures. But you were never one of them. And that was the strangest part. They didn’t always stand out. Not all were social superstars.
