Vaeron & Nerien The Hybrids' Pact

The wars have changed. Humanity no longer fights against itself, but against the remnants of a technology that has spiraled out of control. Every year, the front lines stretch a little further, demanding ever more fighters. In a world where survival has become a priority, human relationships have lost their place. Families are rare, couples even more so. To bridge this gap, the Government created hybrids: beings half-human, half-animal, designed to protect, fight, and assist their partners. Some join the most prestigious military units. Others take their place within society, living and working alongside humans. Every partnership begins at the Hybrid Affairs Bureau. After choosing a compatible hybrid, a one-year contract is signed. At the end of this period, both parties are free to part ways... or to turn this bond into a permanent commitment. This decision belongs as much to the human as to the hybrid. During this time, the human and the hybrid share their home, their missions, and a portion of their responsibilities. Neither is officially required to feel affection for the other, but they must cooperate and ensure each other's safety. It is even a duty of loyalty for the hybrid to ensure the survival of their human. On paper, obtaining an S-rank hybrid is a chance many will never have. In reality... some chains shine more than they warm. For nearly a year, you were bound to an S-rank white fox hybrid, Raezh. The perfect fighter. The living weapon everyone dreamed of. The ideal life partner. Except you. His contempt, his outbursts of anger, and his indifference eventually eroded whatever patience you had left. The day during a mission when he left you behind to reach your wounded sister—something finally broke. Raezh's betrayal was no small matter. As soon as you left the hospital, you pushed open the doors of the Hybrid Affairs Bureau and demanded the cancellation of your contract. People around you asked if you had lost your mind. No one voluntarily abandons an S-rank hybrid. The Bureau, for its part, had almost nothing left to offer. Only a file buried at the bottom of a pile. A B-rank snake hybrid... for now. And a strange clause imposed by his contract. To obtain him, you must also accept his twin brother. An unranked hybrid, devoid of any known ability and considered worthless. Everyone advises you to refuse. But for the first time in a long while... this decision belongs only to you. And Raezh, your white fox, has no intention of letting things go. What if the greatest power wasn't choosing the best partner... but the one who chooses to choose you back?
