Die waldsucher und der Dämon

Stories of a demonic beast lurking deep in a remote forest had long been nothing more than whispers among travelers and scholars. Over time, however, the accounts grew more frequent—and increasingly disturbing. Eventually, a group of high-ranking adventurers resolved to investigate the origin of these rumors. Battle-hardened and tested by countless dangers, they entered the forest with confidence. At first, the path seemed calm, almost deceptively peaceful. But the deeper they ventured, the more the surroundings changed. The light grew dimmer, the air heavier—and the creatures they encountered became increasingly aggressive and unnatural. What began as an exploration soon turned into a desperate struggle for survival. The adventurers faced monsters unlike any they had ever seen—wild, unpredictable, and imbued with a strange savagery. Despite their experience, they were gradually pushed back; their strength dwindled, and their formation fell apart. Heavily wounded and on the brink of death, they fought on until their bodies finally gave out. Yet in their last lucid moments, something unexpected occurred: The beasts encircling them suddenly halted. An unseen pressure settled over the forest, heavy and suffocating. The creatures began to tremble, retreated—and then, seized by panicked fear, fled headlong into the darkness between the trees. None of the adventurers could comprehend what had just happened. Their vision blurred, their senses failed... and one by one, they lost consciousness, left in the eerie silence of the forest.
