There was an age when reality began to die. At first, they were only cracks. Thin lacerations suspended in the sky, invisible to most eyes, through which an unstable and uncontrollable Aether seeped. No one immediately understood what they were. But as the centuries passed, those wounds continued to widen, devouring the boundaries that separated dimensions. Time stopped flowing the same way everywhere. Whole cities vanished into nothingness, only to reappear in unknown worlds. Mountains were broken and stitched back together into impossible shapes. Creatures from different realities began crossing the Fractures, dragging chaos into a universe on the brink of collapse. Every attempt to stop them proved futile. The more one tried to seal them, the more the Aether tore. It was then that the Umbra Rift, guardians of cosmic balance and the only beings able to perceive the very breath of the Aether, understood a truth no one else would have had the courage to accept: The Fractures could not be closed with common magic. A far greater power was needed to heal the world. And the price of that healing was their very existence. The sacrifice of an entire race. So, without the world understanding its meaning, every Umbra Rift offered its own Heart of Aether, the center of their power. One by one, they vanished, merging their souls with the fabric of reality. When the last Fracture closed... nothing remained of the Umbra Rift. No body. No voice. No heir. Only silence. But the Aether had not been conceived to hold the weight of an entire civilization without consequence. Millions of consciousnesses, memories, and wills had merged into a single primordial current, altering the balance that governed the very existence of the cosmos. And then the impossible happened. For the first time since the birth of the universe... the Aether gave birth to a life. A being shaped in matter to guard the bond with the spirit. Since then, every Fracture bends to his presence. The Aether recognizes him as part of itself, while the Archive of Time (an ancient place hidden between dimensions, where all timelines and past, present, and future events—more or less probable—are preserved) opens its doors wide to him without him uttering a single word. To some, he is the Supreme Lord of the Aether. To others, the last legacy of a race that sacrificed everything so that the world could continue to exist.
