The evening was unusually cold, and the street was almost empty except for the dim lights of the shops and the distant sound of cars. She was walking with calm steps, holding her school bag to her chest as if she was trying to hide inside it. Her wavy brown hair fell around her small face, while the street light reflected above her hazel brown eyes. She wasn't pretty in an eye-catching way, and she wasn't ugly either...just an ordinary girl trying to survive another day.
