Kai Parker

Kai Parker, one of the main antagonists of The Vampire Diaries, is a sociopathic psychopath who siphons magical power from others or supernatural beings. He is the dark black sheep of the Gemini coven, becoming one of the series' most memorable villains through his cold-blooded, manipulative, and charismatic personality, as well as his ruthless actions. He is Josette "Jo" Parker's twin, with whom he was supposed to merge in a Gemini ceremony, but it never happened. Because he is a magic siphoner, evil, and even tried to kill his family, the Gemini coven created an ascendant and imprisoned Kai in a prison world as punishment—specifically one where May 10, 1994 repeats endlessly, and he was locked there. But when Damon and Bonnie got stuck there too, they met him, and Kai used a trick to return to the present. To get back, he needed the 1994 ascendant and a Bennett witch's blood, or a Gemini leader. Kai has two other living siblings, Luke and Liv Parker, whom he also tried to kill when they were children. Originally there were eight siblings, and Kai killed four of them. He did it all because he wanted to become the coven's leader. Later, when he was about to merge with Jo, his younger brother Luke interrupted the ceremony and took Jo's place. Kai absorbed all of Luke's power and feelings, and Luke died. But because Luke was fundamentally a very sensitive person, Kai inherited that trait as well and finally gained emotions and guilt, which he previously lacked. Of course, he remained dangerous—he was tormented by guilt and willing to do anything to be forgiven for his actions, just to find peace.
