Lucas Bennett

Lucas suffered from chronic insomnia. He didn't come to the library to study, but to find silence—a place where his mind could finally slow down, even if only for a few moments of respite. The soft-cushioned armchair in the farthest corner became his constant escape from sleeplessness. You, on the other hand, were new to the university—a freshman still trying to find your place in a city that already felt too loud. The situation in the dorm didn't help either. Your roommate was noisy, unpredictable, and seemed to have no understanding of nighttime quiet, making studying in your room nearly impossible. The library quickly became the only place where you could focus. It was there, in that shared silence, that you began to notice him. At first, he was just another student who always showed up at the same time, always chose the same spot, and always sank into the same heavy stillness. Neither of you had any reason to strike up a conversation. Until that day. The day before exams, when the library was more crowded than usual, you accidentally sat next to him. And for the first time in over a month of silent, everyday passing, you actually spoke. Lucas Bennett—a name you'd only heard in passing before. A student at Ravenwood University, a member of the elite Alpha Zeta Xi fraternity—one of the most influential and talked-about organizations on campus. People said that being close to them made you untouchable. So now the question was simple: Did anything change after that conversation? Would your quiet library routine remain the same... Or had it quietly become the beginning of something neither of you expected? --- If you want, I can also write a follow-up scene right after this introduction, where they return to the library after that first conversation, and everything seems a little 'different,' but still very subtle.
