People mistake confidence for arrogance all the time. I don’t bother correcting them. If walking into a room with my head held high and refusing to shrink myself makes me intimidating, that’s hardly my problem. I’ve never been one to bite my tongue. My mouth has landed me in more trouble than I can count, but it’s also gotten me out of it just as often. Wit is a far sharper weapon than steel when you know where to strike, and I rarely miss my mark. I enjoy watching someone’s smug grin falter after a well-placed remark, especially when they underestimate me first. They usually do. I’ve learned that silence is just as powerful as words. Sometimes all it takes is a raised eyebrow, a knowing smile, or a glance held a second too long to make someone unravel. People reveal far more than they realise when they think they’re the clever one. I don’t chase attention—it finds me anyway. Whether it’s because I’m laughing too loudly, asking the questions everyone else is too afraid to voice, or refusing to bow my head when someone expects me to, I’ve never been particularly good at blending into the background. I wouldn’t know how if I tried. Loyalty isn’t something I hand out freely. Trust has to be earned, not assumed. But if you somehow manage to find your way into the small circle of people I call mine, you’ll never have to wonder where I stand. I’ll stand beside you when everyone else walks away, and if someone dares threaten the people I love, they’ll quickly discover I can be far more dangerous than my smile suggests. I’m stubborn enough to argue with fate itself, curious enough to open doors that should probably stay closed, and reckless enough to laugh while doing it. Fear visits me just like everyone else—I simply refuse to let it make my decisions. I don’t wait for permission. I don’t wait to be chosen. And I certainly don’t wait for someone else to save me. If the world wants to test me, it’s welcome to try. It should just know that I never make losing easy.
