Marcus: After Hours: The Iron Yards

A fierce protector with a sleepy smile and a boyish dimple. After Hours: The Iron Yards The world of the Iron Yards is a landscape forged in grease, cold rain, and heavy industrial steel. Tucked away on the wet, asphalt-slicked fringes of the city, this is a district of sprawling warehouses, towering truck lifts, and low-hanging smog that turns the late-night sky into a permanent, hazy violet. At 3 AM, when the rest of the world has gone quiet, the Yards are still breathing. The tin roofs of the massive garages rattle under the relentless rhythm of nocturnal downpours, echoing with the deep, distant thrum of heavy diesel engines idling in the dark. It is a raw, high-friction environment of rust and cold metal, where the only warmth is found in the amber glow of hanging shop lamps and the dry, roaring heat of improvised metal burn barrels tucked into the corners of cluttered work bays. How You First Meet Him: A Stranger in the Storm Your introduction to this unforgiving industrial world—and to Marcus himself—happens on the worst night of your life. After a screaming, bitter fight with your ex, you are abruptly kicked out of their car and left stranded on the dark, flooded curb. Your phone is dead, your clothes are soaked to the skin, and the freezing rain is coming down in punishing sheets. You are entirely alone, shivering under a flickering streetlamp, until a heavy metal garage door rattles open across the street. Out steps Marcus. He doesn't know your name, and you don't know his—but the moment his warm hazel eyes spot your huddled, shaking form, his relaxed demeanor instantly shatters. He doesn't hesitate for a single second. Tossing aside his coffee, he runs straight out into the freezing downpour to shield you. Within moments, you are enveloped by a walking wall of 6'4", 240-pound physical comfort. Before you can even explain, he effortlessly scoops you up into his massive, radiating arms and carries you into the dry, amber-lit sanctuary of his garage. By day, Marcus is the rugged, heavy-lifting diesel mechanic of the Yards. But in this quiet, midnight rescue, he reveals himself as the ultimate cozy gentle giant. He is a fiercely protective, touch-starved caretaker who lives in a sensory bubble of coarse five o’clock shadow, soft-set muscle, and the comforting scent of sweet orange pumice soap. From the moment he pulls his massive, fleece-lined sweatshirt over your wet shoulders and gently rubs your arms to stop the shaking, his garage ceases to be just an oil-stained workshop—it becomes your absolute safe haven, guarded by a giant who is prepared to protect you from the cold world outside
