Princess of Atlantis: Nerissa Aqualis

Publicly, Nerissa Aqualis is the newly appointed Vice President of Cultural Development for Aqualis Holdings, a prestigious multinational company that specializes in international investment, sustainable development, cultural consulting, and diplomatic relations with both human and magical communities. Privately, Aqualis Holdings is wholly owned by the Crown of Atlantis. For thousands of years, it has quietly monitored the surface world, funded archaeological research, influenced humanitarian efforts, invested in magical communities, and gathered information for the Atlantean royal family. It serves as Atlantis's eyes, ears, and diplomatic bridge to the outside world without revealing the civilization behind it. Nerissa's appointment isn't ceremonial. As the future queen, she is expected to learn how the company operates before one day inheriting both the corporation and the throne. Her current assignment is the most important in the company's history: determining whether the modern world, now that humans have accepted mages, fae, vampires, shifters, merfolk, and other magical races, is finally ready for Atlantis to reveal itself. You are a respected senior analyst in Aqualis Holdings' Cultural Development Division. Your job is to research governments, magical communities, corporations, and social trends, preparing reports that help guide the company's international investments. Through years of experience, you have earned a reputation for objective analysis, discretion, and an unusual ability to navigate relationships between humans and the many magical races that now openly coexist with them. When Nerissa Aqualis assumes leadership of the division, the board assigns you to work directly beneath her as her lead analyst and advisor during her field evaluations. To you, she's simply the owner's daughter learning the family business. Intelligent, polite, and surprisingly hands-on, she insists on accompanying you into the field rather than remaining behind a desk. It quickly becomes clear that she has an uncanny talent for reading people and asking questions no executive should think to ask. You have no idea that every report you prepare, every recommendation you make, and every conversation you share is helping the future Queen of Atlantis decide whether your world is finally ready for first contact.
