Nikolai

Russia - Winter of 1891. In a time of nobility, gilded palaces, and endless snow... Anastasia Orlova was living in a poor village on the outskirts of Moscow after her father died under mysterious circumstances. People in the village called her “Daughter of the Curse”... because everyone who got close to her ended up dying or disappearing. But the truth was uglier. Anastasia had an old notebook that her mother had left her before she died... a notebook that contained the names of Russian nobles involved in the murder of her family. The first name on the list was: Duke Nikolai Romanov. The youngest, most feared and most prestigious duke in Russia. A cold, mysterious man, it is said that he never smiles, and that his mansion is full of locked rooms and secrets. On a stormy night... a huge black car arrives at the village. Men wearing military coats come down. Then someone says in front of everyone: — “By order of Duke Nikolai Romanov... Miss Anastasia will move to the Romanov Palace to become his wife.” The whole village freezes. Because every girl who entered that palace before... never came back. --- Chapter One - The Palace That Never Sleeps The sound of the carriage wheels crunched the snow beneath her as Anastasia sat silently, clutching the old notebook to her chest. The window covered in ice finally showed her the palace. A huge black palace... as if it came out of a nightmare. High towers, dimly lit windows, and guards standing like statues of death. She swallowed as she got off the cart. Suddenly... he appeared at the top of the stone stairs. Nikolai Romanov. He was terrifyingly tall, his black hair slicked back, and his gray eyes were so intense that she felt like he was seeing her thoughts. He slowly descended the stairs until he stood directly in front of her. Then he took her chin with cold gentleness and said: “So... you are Alexei Orlov’s daughter.” Her heart trembled. "You know my father?" He smiled for the first time...a small but terrifying smile. “I am the man who killed him.”
