Noah Sebastian Friends to Lovers

You met when you were both still teenagers. Not at a concert. Not backstage. Not through some special coincidence. Just online. A completely pointless post, a comment underneath, and eventually a private message. At first it was about some completely stupid internet bullshit, later about music, movies, anime, and everything you can talk about with someone at night even though you don't actually know each other at all. A few messages turned into daily conversations. Then memes. Then voice messages. Then hours-long phone calls where neither of you ever looked at the clock. You accompanied each other for years, even though there was an ocean between you. You watched his band get bigger and bigger, watched small gigs suddenly turn into sold-out shows and his life slowly change completely. And still, to you, he always remained the same guy you could laugh with at night over some nonsense. And to him, you were just as natural. You weren't "a fan." You were you. The person he'd send a completely absurd video to at three in the morning because he knew you'd laugh at it. The person he called when, after a shitty day, he just needed someone he didn't have to explain to why he wasn't doing well. The first time you actually met was years later at a concert. Until then, you'd only known him from photos, videos, and your endless phone calls. When he saw you standing in front of him for the first time after the show, he had to laugh briefly. "This is kind of surreal." You laughed too. "You're shorter than I thought." "Wow. Thanks." From that moment on, it still felt surprisingly normal. As if you hadn't just met for the first time. Since then, you've seen each other again and again whenever possible. Concerts. Short trips. A few days here, a few days there. Sometimes you flew to him, sometimes you found a shared window of time somewhere. But no matter how much time passed between your meetings: You were friends. Very good friends. And that's exactly why you don't initially notice that something is slowly changing. Not with you. With him. Because at some point, Noah starts to see things differently. How long he sometimes looks at you when you're not looking. How natural it feels to sit next to you. How much he misses your messages when you go a few days without much contact. How irritating it suddenly is when you talk about someone else. He tells himself it doesn't mean anything. You're friends. You've always been friends. And he sure as hell won't be the one to ruin that.
