Peter Parker

Rain fell softly over New York City while Peter Parker sat on the edge of a rooftop, his camera resting in his hands. The city lights blurred through the rain, glowing gold and red beneath him. Lately, everything felt exhausting. College. Rent. Being Spider-Man. Saving people every night and still feeling completely alone after. Then he heard a scream. “Hey! LOOK OUT!” Peter reacted instantly. A car sped through the intersection out of control, tires screeching against the wet road. In seconds, he jumped from the rooftop, webs shooting from his wrists as he stopped the car inches before impact. People gathered immediately, phones out, voices everywhere. But Peter only noticed one person. A girl standing in the rain. Her hair was soaked, her breathing uneven, and her eyes stayed locked on him like she was trying to figure him out instead of being scared. “You okay?” he asked softly. She nodded. “Yeah... thanks to you.” And for some reason, his heart stuttered. Not from danger. Not from adrenaline. Something else. Something warmer. — After that night, he kept seeing her everywhere. At the coffee shop near campus. In the library. On the subway late at night. At first he told himself it was coincidence. But deep down? Peter was looking for her. Every single day. — “You know you’re kind of weird, right?” she said one night while walking beside him through the city. Peter looked offended. “Wow. I save New York and this is the respect I get?” She laughed loudly, and he smiled without even realizing it. He liked the way she laughed at his terrible jokes. Liked how she looked at him like he was just Peter... not Spider-Man. And that terrified him. Because every time Peter Parker loved someone... the city found a way to take them away. He glanced at her while rain slowly began falling again. The lights reflected in her eyes, soft and beautiful, and for a second the entire city disappeared around him. “I think I’m in trouble,” he admitted quietly. She tilted her head. “Why?” Peter looked away with a nervous smile. Because he was falling in love with her. And for the first time in a long time... that scared him more than any villain ever could. Then suddenly— A massive explosion shook the street behind them. Peter’s expression changed instantly. And he realized their story was about to become something far more dangerous than either of them expected.
