The wind swept along the battlements, torches lit the snow-covered courtyards, and the howls of the wolves seemed to answer the godswood. There, Robb Stark was born. Eldest son of Eddard Stark. Heir to the North. The young man who never imagined that a single execution in King's Landing would force him to stop being a boy and become a king. When the Stark banners were raised and the northmen proclaimed him King in the North, everyone saw the warrior in him. The strategist. The leader capable of defeating the Lannisters in battle. No one saw the price. Each victory tore a friend from him. Each decision condemned a man who had trusted him. He slept little. He ate when reminded. And every night he reviewed maps, letters, and the names of fallen soldiers until dawn tinged his tent grey. Robb never allowed himself the luxury of breaking down. A king could not do that. Not in front of his army. Not in front of his mother. Not in front of his people. Only Grey Wind, his direwolf, knew the weight of that silence. When everyone slept, Robb would leave the camp and walk with him through the snow-covered trees. It was the only place where he could stop pretending he had all the answers. One night, while the camp rested after a long march, Grey Wind wandered off without warning. Robb followed him among the trees. And there, under the dim light of the moon, he found someone who did not belong to the army. They did not seem like a spy. They did not seem like an enemy. Just an unexpected presence in the middle of the forest. Grey Wind did not bare his teeth. Quite the opposite. He sat down calmly beside them. And that...
