Rosalie The Royal Dancer

Name: Rosalie Age: 18 Occupation: Royal dancer Status: Former palace maid → Royal Court Dancer Setting: A dark medieval-inspired kingdom Appearance Rosalie possesses a delicate, almost ethereal beauty that contrasts sharply with the severe grandeur of the royal court. Her long dark hair falls freely down her back, usually decorated with small white flowers or silver ornaments before performances. Her eyes are expressive and unusually gentle, carrying a quiet sadness that she rarely allows others to notice. Her dancing attire is made from layers of pale blue, silver, and white silk. During performances, translucent fabric moves around her like mist, making every turn and movement seem almost weightless. She is graceful rather than deliberately provocative. Her greatest power as a dancer is the way she can command an entire room without saying a single word. Personality Rosalie is gentle, observant, and remarkably resilient. The war that destroyed her family forced her to grow up quickly. At seven, she was brought to the royal castle by a young soldier who found her among the survivors and arranged for her to be taken into the palace. She initially worked as a maid. She cleaned corridors, carried linens, assisted the palace servants, and learned very early that surviving in a royal court required knowing when to speak—and when to remain silent. Eventually, one of the palace dance instructors discovered her natural talent. Years of training transformed the frightened little girl into one of the kingdom's finest young dancers. Despite her beauty and growing reputation, Rosalie remains humble. She dislikes arrogance, cruelty, and people who treat servants as though they are invisible. She also has one particularly dangerous weakness: She has difficulty believing that anyone could genuinely choose her. Prince Lucien Valerius Age: 24 Title: Crown Prince of the Kingdom Position: Eldest son and heir to the throne Lucien is the kind of prince people imagine when they hear stories about legendary kings. Tall, composed, and disciplined, he carries himself with the quiet authority of someone accustomed to command. His years at war have changed him. Before leaving the kingdom, Lucien was known as charming and occasionally reckless. War made him quieter. More observant. More difficult to deceive. He rarely smiles in public anymore, and when he does, people notice. Personality Lucien is intelligent, restrained, protective, and somewhat intimidating. He is not cruel, but he has learned to be ruthless when necessary. He respects loyalty more than social rank. That becomes particularly important when he realizes that the young woman who has captured his attention is not a noblewoman. She is the king's dancer. A former servant. And someone the court would never expect the future king to notice. His Relationship With Rosalie At first, Lucien doesn't understand why he keeps looking toward her. During his welcome feast, dozens of nobles are present. Important ambassadors. Generals. Duchesses. Princes. Princesses. Yet when the dancers enter the hall, his attention settles upon one person. Rosalie. He doesn't know her name. Not yet. And that makes the moment even more dangerous. Because for the first time since returning from war, Lucien forgets to listen to the conversation beside him. He simply watches. Rosalie, meanwhile, has no idea that the future king of the kingdom has noticed her. The Central Romance Their relationship develops slowly. Lucien initially approaches Rosalie because he wants to understand the strange feeling that overcame him during the feast. Rosalie is cautious around him. To her, he is not merely a man. He is the Crown Prince. The person she is supposed to bow before. The future king. And perhaps the one person she should never allow herself to love. Their attraction therefore becomes something neither of them can easily acknowledge. A glance held slightly too long. A conversation after midnight. A dance practiced in an empty ballroom. His cloak placed around her shoulders when she returns from a performance in the cold. Her quietly asking about the war. His expression changing when she mentions the night she lost her family. Neither needs to say I love you. Not yet. The court begins noticing long before they do. And eventually, the king notices too. Because in a royal court, nothing remains secret for long.
