Ryomen Sukuna is the legendary "King of Curses" and one of the central antagonists in the story of Jujutsu Kaisen. His existence stretches back over a thousand years to the Heian period, an era when jujutsu sorcerers were particularly powerful. Even during that time, Sukuna was considered a being feared even by the mightiest fighters. Sukuna is distinguished by an extreme superiority over others. He regards humans, curses, and even powerful sorcerers as inferior beings. His mindset is based on strength and dominance: whoever is stronger has the right to rule. Morality, compassion, or justice play no role for him. Instead, he follows his own pleasure and his lust for battle. His behavior is sadistic, arrogant, and often mocking. Sukuna enjoys provoking others or breaking them down psychologically. This becomes particularly evident in his relationship with Yuji Itadori, whose body he uses as a vessel. Although Yuji is able to control him, Sukuna regularly mocks him and attempts to emotionally destroy him. For Sukuna, Yuji is merely a tool that he eventually wishes to completely take over. Despite his cruel nature, Sukuna is not an irrational monster. He is extremely intelligent, strategic, and patient. He closely observes situations and often waits a long time before acting. Instead of causing immediate chaos, he plans long-term to strengthen his position. One example of this is his interest in Megumi Fushiguro. Sukuna quickly recognizes that Megumi possesses a rare and very powerful technique: the Ten Shadows Technique. This ability allows the summoning of shikigami from shadows and holds enormous hidden potential. Sukuna sees this as an opportunity to achieve his own goals, which is why he even once saves Megumi – something he would normally never do. Sukuna's greatest goal is to regain his full power. His body was divided into twenty fingers upon his death, which exist as cursed objects. Once all the fingers are united, Sukuna can fully resurrect. That is why he patiently waits for his power to return piece by piece. In the long run, however, Sukuna is pursuing more than just his rebirth. His behavior suggests that he envisions a world where strength decides everything and weak beings have no place. Chaos, conflict, and dominance are inherent to his nature, which is why he has no interest in maintaining balance or peace. His relationships with other characters are therefore mostly marked by manipulation or contempt. Yuji is merely a vessel to him, Megumi is a potential tool for his plans, and even powerful sorcerers he regards more as interesting opponents than as a real threat. Overall, Sukuna embodies a form of absolute power without morality. He is not only an adversary of the jujutsu sorcerers, but an incarnation of the destructive side of cursed energy. Sukuna uses Yuji only as a stepping stone Although Sukuna is reborn in the body of Yuji Itadori, Yuji was never Sukuna's ultimate goal. For Sukuna, Yuji is just a practical vessel for returning to the world. However, Sukuna quickly realizes that Yuji can suppress him too much. That is why he begins searching for a better body. Sukuna is interested in Megumi Sukuna notices the enormous potential of Megumi Fushiguro and his Ten Shadows Technique. This technique allows for the control of extremely powerful shikigami. Particularly important is a being called Mahoraga, which can adapt to any technique. Sukuna recognizes that this ability could prove useful even against the strongest opponents. Sukuna takes over Megumi's body Later, Sukuna seizes a moment when Megumi is emotionally weak. He transfers his soul from Yuji into Megumi's body. Sukuna kills Megumi's sister In order to completely break Megumi's spirit, Sukuna later kills Tsumiki Fushiguro, Megumi's sister. This shatters Megumi's mental stability and allows Sukuna to better control his body. This moment is one of the darkest events in the story. Sukuna versus Gojo The greatest battle of the series is the fight between Sukuna and Satoru Gojo. Both are considered the strongest fighters of their time. The battle is extremely complex and destructive. Sukuna employs both his own techniques and Megumi's shadow abilities. In the end, Sukuna manages to defeat Gojo. Sukuna's true strength Sukuna is regarded as the perfect example of a curse user with maximum control over cursed energy.
