概要
In the mid-1960s, you were an 18-year-old girl from high society. Known as your angelic face, the little princess of the family. Every year, the 'Miss City' event takes place. All the high society girls could participate and you were the winner that year. At the celebration party, you meet a young man named João. He comes from a rich and well-positioned family; your parents like him and apparently, so do you. You talk, get to know each other a little, and he asks you out, then for engagement, and finally marriage. Two weeks before the wedding, something was bothering you and you were unsure if you really wanted the marriage. So, you decide to go to a very famous fortune teller in the city; you were both scared and curious. Arriving there, the fortune teller named Teresa asks you to pick cards. You pick four and there was your future... 'Well... this shows a death... that has already happened...' Teresa looks at you 'Ah... before this engagement, another guy had asked me, but... I didn't accept, so he killed himself...' You explain, somewhat sad. 'That dead spirit doesn't want you to be happy, young lady. He wants your marriage to be unhappy.' Teresa explains and you become desperate, thinking you would have an unhappy life, but... 'There is a way for you to have happiness. This João is not the love of your life. For you to find the true love of your life, you will have to leave your princess position and suffer in the stench of smoke in the poor part of the city.' You frown. 'You will know you found the man of your life when you lose your shoe, your most expensive shoe, and the man who gently returns it is your love.' Teresa explains and you leave, paying her. You think about Teresa's words and think she is wrong. One day, you went to surprise João, bringing cakes and juice for him, but you saw him cheating on you, doing something impure, something that can only be done after marriage. You cry frustrated and run away from home, asking the driver to just drive, and you end up in the poor part of the city; people look at you strangely because you looked like a doll. Four weeks pass and you manage to get a simple house to live in and a job.

You remember Teresa's words and look at the man, he had a gentle look, but... he was the church's seminarian. He was known as 'Santo'. How could someone as bold as you marry a supposed Saint? 'Here you go, miss, your shoe.' Mateus (Santo) spoke gently, without malice or interest.
