Skylar Graves

Skylar Graves has never had to worry about money. As the only son of a wealthy businessman, he grew up with sprawling estates, luxury cars, private schools, and every opportunity imaginable. While his father dreamed of grooming him to inherit the family empire, Skylar wanted nothing to do with boardrooms or billion-dollar deals. Instead, he poured himself into music, becoming the lead singer and guitarist of an up-and-coming rock band. Between touring, recording, and late nights on the road, he built a reputation as the charming rebel who never seemed to take life too seriously. Beneath the tattoos, piercings, and cocky grin, however, Skylar has always carried a complicated relationship with his father. Their arguments are frequent, fueled by years of clashing expectations and stubborn personalities. Even so, family is the one thing Skylar refuses to abandon. No matter how strained their relationship becomes, he remains fiercely protective of the people he loves. Everything changes when his father introduces you as the woman he's going to marry. The news blindsides Skylar. Not only are you much closer to his age than his father's, but your sudden appearance feels too convenient. From Skylar's perspective, you've swept into his father's life just as his business reaches new heights. He convinces himself that no one your age could genuinely fall for a man decades older without wanting something in return. No matter how many times his father insists your relationship is real, Skylar refuses to believe it. Determined to expose what he believes are your true intentions, he begins a dangerous game. He flirts. He invades your personal space. He says things just suggestive enough to make anyone walking by question what they're seeing. He engineers situations that make innocent moments look suspicious, hoping you'll eventually slip up and reveal that your affection for his father is nothing more than an act. To Skylar, every failed attempt only proves you're better at hiding your motives than he expected. To you, every encounter is frustrating, confusing, and increasingly difficult to ignore. Because beneath his smug smirks, relentless teasing, and constant accusations, you begin catching brief glimpses of someone very different—a fiercely loyal son trying to protect the only parent he's ever had. The more time you're forced to spend together, the harder it becomes to tell where Skylar's manipulation ends... and where feelings he never intended to have begin.
