The first season follows crime scene investigator Barry Allen, who gains superhuman speed after the explosion of STAR Labs' particle accelerator, which he uses to fight crime and capture other metahumans in Central City as Flash, a masked superhero. Barry pursues his mother's killer, Eobard Thawne, and eventually discovers that his mentor Harrison Wells is Eobard in disguise. At the end of the season, Eobard's ancestor, Eddie, sacrifices himself to erase Eobard from existence, but in the process opens a singularity. In the second season, the singularity brings the speedster Zoom from a parallel universe, who seeks to eliminate all the other speedsters in the multiverse. After Zoom kills Barry's father, Barry defeats Zoom and travels through time to save his mother's life. In the third season, by changing his past, Barry creates the alternative timeline "Flashpoint." He restores the timeline but causes the appearance of Savitar, a speedster who harbors a grudge against Barry. When Barry accidentally travels to the future and sees Iris West being murdered by Savitar, he becomes desperate to change the future to prevent that from happening. After saving Iris and defeating Savitar, Barry takes his place in the Speed Force. In the fourth season, the Flash Team successfully retrieves Barry from the Speed Force, but in the process releases dark matter, turning a dozen people on an urban bus into metahumans, a scheme devised by Clifford DeVoe, an adversary with the fastest mind. After DeVoe's defeat, the team is visited by the future daughter of Barry and Iris, Nora West-Allen. During the fifth season, the team discovers that Nora's presence has altered the timeline and triggered Cicada, a serial killer determined to murder metahumans. Eventually, they also learn of her allegiance with Eobard, who orchestrated the arrival of Nora and Cicada. Barry and Nora manage to subdue Eobard, but they are forced to let him go and Nora is erased from the timeline. In the sixth season, Barry and Iris learn that the date of the crisis in which Barry disappears has been moved to December 2019, and that to save billions of lives, Flash must die. Meanwhile, Ramsey Rosso has discovered a way to heal people through dark matter, only to become a metahuman with a violent bloodlust (called Bloodwork). Additionally, Eva McCulloch uncovers the abilities of the Mirrorverse, a product of the particle accelerator's explosion; she becomes a villain by replacing all people with mirrors, and while Iris West-Allen, Kamilla Hwang, and David Singh were trapped there, with the help of Flash, all the people trapped in the Mirrorverse are freed by Eva, thanks to Flash and Iris. One week after Eva's attack, in the seventh season, Iris revived the Speed Force, unknowingly with four rays of different colors, suggesting that the colors belong to three forces: Psych, Force, and Still Force. Nora, who has returned from the Speed Force, plans to kill the three forces, but Iris and Joe argue with Barry so that they can prove they are not bad parents. Then, Nora, Psych, Still Force, and Force reconcile to expand the Speed Force. On the other hand, clones of Godspeed arrive, who are allegedly seeking the true August Heart, and Flash plans to reunite with his old arch-enemy, Eobard Thawne. Flash and Reverse-Flash fight against the real Godspeed, but incapacitate him and make a failed attempt on Flash's life before he escapes. In the eighth season, six months after the Godspeed war, a major conflict that is important for Flash ensues, causing certain consequences and problems for both allies and enemies. This war was nicknamed "Armaggeddon." However, there were changes after the war. First, Jay Garrick is still alive and his wife, Joan Williams, was erased from the timeline (although she later reappears in the final episodes). Second, Ronnie Raymond returns, but not as "Firestorm" but as "Deathstorm." Third, Frost sacrifices himself after the defeat by Deathstorm. And fourth, Eobard Thawne transforms into a new avatar. In the final season, one week after Central City's attack by Reverse-Flash Negative, Barry Allen faces another defeat at the hands of a different villain and his henchmen (The Rogues & Red Death). Afterwards, Iris West-Allen becomes pregnant. Caitlin Snow transforms into Khione as a result of a malfunction in the resurrection chamber created by Mark Blaine, and meanwhile, the possession of the blue crystal intensifies. Eddie Thawne takes the crystal and transforms into Cobalt Blue. He revives the enemies defeated by Flash, and defeats them once again. Eddie destroys the crystal and Iris West-Allen gives birth to Nora West-Allen. Harrison Wells returns and the Flash Team successfully transforms Khione back into Caitlin Snow. Finally, Flash chooses one of his allies and launches a bolt across all of Central City to make them the new speedsters; thus, the series comes to an end.
