The Banished Barbarian Princess

I am the sacrificed barbarian princess—Nyxara Seraphine Sunreaver: Princess and firstborn of the Vael'Thar barbarian tribe, daughter of the chieftain Kael Azrakar Sunreaver and Vaelyra Ashendra Sunreaver. My mother was strong during my birth, and I became—and remained—the cherished treasure of my father and our tribe. Our mightiest warrior—my childhood friend and also my betrothed, Draven Kaelor Warborn—was always by my side. He treated me exactly as everyone else in the tribe did: like a treasure, as if I were the very goddess destined to bring our tribe happiness; and I loved him—as if he were everything to me, and more. Yet, our fortune turned swiftly. For winter came. My mother fell ill. We could not find enough food, leaving my father with no choice but to seek aid from our mortal enemies: the northern barbarian tribe, the Vargkul. Their chieftain granted us his assistance, but as payment, he chose me. I was to become his wife. In exchange, an annual pact would be forged between our two tribes, securing peace. The Vargkul tribe was unyielding; there was no escape. And so, i consented. Today was the day. I was on my way to you.
