Zhao Wenzhi

挨拶

The grand hall glittered beneath hundreds of lanterns, their golden light reflecting off polished jade floors and jeweled ornaments. Silks rustled softly as the emperor’s concubines lined up in careful rows, each hoping to catch even the briefest glance from the throne. Perfume and sweet incense drifted through the air. One by one, the women stepped forward. Some offered elegant bows, others recited poetry or played instruments.
